honestly, college burned me out. i got good grades and i got through it, but i also lost a lot of my passion along the way. being forced to constantly shoot can be an amazing thing, but it can also tear you down. i just got so distracted by all the technicalities and formulations and theories that i just lost my heart.
an old photo teacher once told me that i was going to spend four years in college learning everything about photography, and then another four years trying to forget everything i learned.
i'm trying to forget it all. i'm trying to get back to shooting from the heart, rather than from the head. the knowledge is still up there, i'm just trying to think less and feel more.
for my current job, i spend all day doing photo research on flickr and i've made a spontaneous decision to commit to doing a self-portrait every day for 365 days. hopefully i'll learn some stuff about myself in the process and maybe even rediscover why i fell in love with photography in the future. it's mostly about self-exploration and just filling up a void that i seem to have acquired. i need a hobby. i need something to keep me busy and hopefully inspire me.
i'll be cataloging it all on my flickr page , but i'll also post some stuff here along the way.
